Program note
In many cases, the sound by an instrument has the hybrid character. For example, wind instruments produce inevitability the musical tone and the breath sound at the same time. Moreover, I hear sometimes the sound with the perception of the pitch in the resonance of some percussion like the cymbal. As stated above, is the breath sound who escapes from the instrument an insignificant by-product?

In fact, we can suppress this type of noise and this perception. But, I’m often fascinated by this hybrid nature in a single sound. Therefore, I decided to deepen my interest for the situation with the co-existence of different elements in this piece. I made not only the contraste, but also tried to bring out the connection and the balance between different materials in order to get the complementary relationship. For instance, I used the cluster, the micro-interval and the addition of the roughness and the beat frequency by various playing techniques, so that the musical tone obtains the inharmonic or noisy character.

As a result of this idea, I gave the diverse processes such as the gradation and the hybridation among different materials. Simultaneously, such as the glissando imitates the movement goes down on the scale, I tried to the translation of certain comportements by other approximative ways to multiply the variation. From such a point of view as this, I observed the various possibility of the sound, and I tried to draw an imaginary landscape.
